Grant Banner Project

The arts are alive and well in Zumbrota!

The Friends of the Theatre committee, who lead the ART ON MAIN project, applied for and received a grant from the Southeast Minnesota Arts Council. Originally, the grant was to offer summer and Fall workshops to support the ART ON MAIN project, but with the Covid-19 restrictions, it was decided to offer art kits and supplies instead. The kits were offered first to those who participated in the project in recent times, then were offered to interested artists. To request a kit, email: friends.of.the.theatre.zaac@gmail.com

This theme-based project will be “Zumbrota in Bloom”. This theme is to help provide inspiration but the art is not restricted to this theme! The art kits are limited; however, anyone can participate in this project. Information on the project can be found at Web Application for Artists 2020 banner project. The banner art is due November 11th. Please turn in at Grover Auto, it will be photographed and returned to the artist.

The Youth Art Contest will be held in a cooperative effort with the ART ON MAIN project. The theme for Youth is ” Zoo Animals”. Youth can submit art using guidelines found on the Youth Art Entry Form. The art can be submitted using the Youth art contest guidelines. In addition, art submitted using the banner guidelines will be considered and will be entered into the youth art contest automatically- double duty art! This is optional! The watercolor paper included in the art kit is the right size for the banners. The Youth contest will be held on November 21st. This art can be picked up after the art contest closes at 3 PM at the Zumbrota State Theatre.

Many thanks to artists far and wide who participate in helping keep the mission of ZAAC alive and well in these uncertain times!

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeast Minnesota Art Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
