100th Anniversary of the State Theatre

Celebrate The Past / Create The Future

On October 15, 2021, a large group of people gathered at the State Theatre to celebrate the theater’s 100 years and learn about plans to improve this historic building. Money raised will go towards the following:

1. Remodel the old lobby
2. Restore the auditorium seats
3. Finish upgrading the electrical system
4. Restore the historic mural in the lobby

Our goal is to raise $300,000, As of October 20th, we have raised $176,00 of this goal!!

Welcome to ZAAC!

Here in Zumbrota, Minnesota, we consider ourselves incredibly lucky to be surrounded by very talented and creative people. We work to share our area’s artistic wealth, believing a vibrant arts organization is critical to a community’s health and energy. We sponsor and host Music in the Park, weekly summer concerts with great bands and free ice cream. Look for banners on Zumbrota’s Main Street featuring the work of local artists who contribute to Art On Main. This event showcases area artists and supports ZAAC activities. In 2011, aided by a very generous outpouring of support from the community, ZAAC purchased the State Theatre, giving us a venue to further our mission of sharing the arts with everyone. Z-Watercolorists is a group that paints together and also supports the mission of ZAAC.  A Youth Art Contest is sponsored by ZAAC as part of Zumbrota’s Covered Bridge Festival.   Finally, we encourage our young people to pursue their passions in the arts with an annual Scholarship awarded to an artistic graduating high school senior.

Great art and music and writing and theater can happen anywhere … even in a small community like Zumbrota and the surrounding area. Come visit. Get involved. We guarantee you’ll be surprised.
