Billie and Me , A Billie Holiday Tribute - CANCELLED

    7:30 PMZumbrota State Theatre

Thomasina Petrus has created a very special piece of musical cabaret celebrating the life and influence of Billie Holiday. With the unthinkable ability to capture the vocal and physical (abilities) of “Lady Day”, Thomasina takes us on a scintillating audible history that eventually ends with the discovery of Thomasina’s own incredibly unique and powerful voice. Her story of discovering Billie when she was young is a fascinating and highly entertaining piece of cabaret. Full of humor and emotional realness, audiences of any age come to understand the impact music and culture have on every generation and how we are all continually linked to our past. Thru a musical timeline of artists impacted by Billie Holiday including Bessie Smith, Louise Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James and more, Thomasina celebrates the history of each of these beautiful black women and men who inspired and influenced Jazz and its origins while incorporating the American history that shaped (it).

The events at ZAAC are supported by memberships and volunteers.
