A feisty German mail-order bride immigrates to rural Minnesota in the 1920s to marry a Norwegian farmer. Bureaucracy and prejudice cause major complications in this gentle story of love and immigration.

The Great Gatsby — May 16

gatsby-poster1Join us a for a FREE evening of fun at the State Theatre on Thursday, May 16. The evening starts at 6:30 with a brief lecture by noted Fitzgerald scholar David Page on the significance of F. Scott Fitzgerald's life in Minnesota as it relates to his writing career. Then we will be screening the 1974 Academy Award winning film "The Great Gatsby" starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow.

William Kent Krueger is coming!

The State Theatre is proud to announce the appearance of this beloved local author at 7 pm on Thursday, October 25.

William Kent Krueger, a multi award-winning author and crime writer, lives in St. Paul. He is best known for his Cork O'Connor series set primarily in Minnesota. He is the recipient of  back to back Anthony awards for best novel and is a four time Minnesota Book Award winner. 

Krueger will take the stage to discuss all his books, including his most recent work, Trickster's Point, which debuted at #12 on the New York Times bestseller list.

This program is free and open to the public.
